Pushing 1700 August 26, 2009

Pushing 1700 miles for the year on the Cross-Check.  Should be at 2000 by October at the current rate.  May even hit 3000 before the year is over. I figured 2500 at one point, but 3000 miles looks possible now.

And then there’s overtraining January 20, 2009

I was a little too ambitious the week back with the new bike. Too much activity and now I won’t be riding in for a little bit. Kind of overdid it and need to recoup some overworked muscles. Later in the week will be warming up some (I think). Maybe get another ride in then.

But at least you don’t get a year in jail for ‘insulting’ the president … If so, we’d have a very large number of folks locked away.

Approval ratings vs. Doing what’s needed January 12, 2007

I know this is a virtual primal scream of sorts and likely no one will read it … but …

Why is everyone so worried about ‘approval ratings’ instead of doing what’s right?  I would love to hear an actual counter-proposal to president Bush’s plan to boost troop levels for a period in Iraq. And that proposal should actually address the need to stand up to Islamic Terrorists (yes, *terrorrists*) who would impose their religion on others by blowing themselves and others up, running airplanes into buildings, etc. (unless, of course, you ally yourself with them).

This plan is much less than ideal … but is there a better one out there that deals with the overall problem and doesn’t just walk away? Is anyone more worried about that than their political career?

A True Christian Example October 5, 2006

Seeing the response of the Amish in light of what has happened there is a tremendous living example of what we should strive for as Christians.  The forgiveness and compassion extended to the man who committed such a horrendous act and to his family has been nothing short of inspirational.

Just had to get that out …

So … we did the raised beds this year, and they're looking good so far. Having filled them with compost mostly certainly seems to have helped.

Some days, kids just come up with the funniest stuff.  Last night, Gavin said (rather matter of factly) as we talked about our day:

"I had a bad day, dinosaurs came in my room".

I don't know about you, but I would definitely consider dinosaurs in my room to make for a bad day.
